Dan is currently serving in his first term in the State Senate. He is the Ranking Member of the Planning and Development Committee as well as a member of the Public Safety Committee and the Judiciary Committee. Dan is a Co-Chair of the Crumbling Foundation Caucus and is a member of the Sportsmen Caucus.
Dan Champagne was raised in northeast Connecticut in the town of Vernon. Dan graduated from Rockville High School and served 5 years in the Connecticut Army National Guard. Dan is married to his wife, Karen, and he has two daughters, Emily and Melissa.
Dan Champagne has the experience to lead the 35th district. Dan served in the Vernon Police Department for 22 years, retiring as a police sergeant. Dan served on the Vernon Town Council for 6 years and as Vernon Mayor since 2013. Dan graduated from UConn with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
Dan has been very active in the community for decades. His volunteer experience includes being a Big Brother, a youth leader, and he has served on several councils.
